Government cuts National Minimum Wage by €1

From February 1st 2011, the government's minimum wage cut of €1 will take effect, reducing the national minimum hourly rate to €7.65.

As part of your employment contract your rate of pay cannot be changed without your consent. Therefore, if your hourly rate is set at the current minimum rate of €8.65 a reduction CANNOT be imposed by your employer.
